Are you a recent University graduate? Are you interested in supporting children with autism and other neurological conditions? Are you passionate about helping others, with a patient and encouraging approach?

A Specialist School near Abingdon are seeking a dedicated Graduate to join their team as an SEN Support Assistant. The school caters for children aged 4-16 with complex needs, including autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication challenges and associated learning needs.

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will assist a class of 5 to 10 pupils, working closely with the schools teaching team, therapists, and support staff. Together, you will deliver individualised learning plans and interventions that promote each student's learning, independence, communication, and emotional well-being.

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide support and encouragement to help students reach their potential.
  • Foster a calm, structured and positive environment to reduce anxiety and build each pupils' confidence.
  • Learn to roll out specialist interventions to support communication, social interaction and sensory needs.
  • Assist with challenging behaviours, pastoral care and personal care.
