Overview

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist primary school that provides high-quality education for pupils aged 4-11 with autism and complex needs. The school is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Primary Class Teacher to join their team on a full-time, temporary to permanent basis.

Location: Streatham, Southwest London • Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm • Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Temporary to permanent • Pay: According to your teaching scale

The Role

The successful candidate will lead a small class of pupils with a range of needs including autism, communication difficulties, and learning challenges. They will be responsible for planning and delivering a personalised, engaging curriculum that meets both academic and developmental goals. The role includes working closely with a team of experienced teaching assistants and collaborating with therapists and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress in line with EHCP targets
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external specialists
  • Support the emotional wellbeing and personal development of pupils
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience working with children with autism and complex needs (in either mainstream or specialist settings)
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
