About this child

Isabelle (8) and Alex (4) live with their mum, and dad, in West London. Both children are bursting with creativity and enjoy exploring the world through arts and crafts, imaginative play with Lego, and building with magnetic tiles. Isabelle is an avid collector of Maileg mice and loves getting lost in a good story, especially anything from the Harry Potter universe. She attends dance class and chess club. Isabelle is a highly articulate, intelligent, and sociable autistic girl. She attends mainstream education and is fully independent in her personal care. She can find transitions and changes to her routine challenging. She also experiences fatigue and anxiety, as well as sensory and emotional dysregulation. Alex is a lively, adventurous four-year who enjoys board games, swimming, football, and spending time at the park. He’s also a cat lover. While he has not received a formal diagnosis, Alex shows traits of ADHD and can sometimes struggle with sensory and emotional regulation.

Overview of role

This is a collaborative role, with Mum present at home. The SEN Nanny will work in close partnership with Mum to manage after-school pickups and the evening routine. After school, Isabelle tends to feel tired and prefers to go straight home to rest and decompress. Alex, meanwhile, may enjoy stopping by the park on the way home. Mum and the Nanny will divide responsibilities to meet both children's needs. Both children can experience emotional dysregulation after school, so the Nanny will play an important role in helping them regulate their emotions and return to a state of calm. Isabelle responds well to quiet craft activities, while Alex may prefer playing in the communal gardens. The Nanny will provide full support with the evening schedule, including homework supervision, and preparing the evening meal. They will also assist with bath and bedtime. Since Isabelle typically goes to bed earlier than Alex, the Nanny will care for one child while Mum attends to the other. During school holidays, there is more time to enjoy playful activities both inside and outside the home. The family is looking for consistency for both children, so candidates looking for a long‑term placement are much preferred. The family travels to Cyprus every year for their holiday and would be delighted to have the Nanny join them. Additional hours are available during school holidays.

Who this job would suit

This role would suit a female candidate with strong experience supporting children who have challenges with emotional regulation and those on the autistic spectrum. We're looking for someone calm and nurturing, with the enthusiasm to engage in play and explore enjoyable activities with the children throughout the school holidays.

What’s great about this job

Supporting Isabelle and Alex is a truly delightful opportunity, and contributing to their ongoing learning and development promises to be deeply rewarding. Additionally, the role provides valuable long-term security
