Job summary

A recruitment agency specializing in education is seeking a compassionate Intervention Tutor to provide tailored academic and emotional support for secondary-aged students in Hexham. The role requires experience with students having special educational needs and a strong understanding of the KS3/KS4 curriculum. It offers up to 15 hours per week on a temporary part-time basis. Applicants must have an enhanced DBS, the right to work in the UK, and be willing to collaborate closely with families and professionals to enhance educational outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 6 months experience working with students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of the KS3/KS4 curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised sessions in Maths and English.
  • Support the development of communication and emotional regulation using SEN strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and independence in line with students' targets.
  • Adapt teaching approaches based on student's needs.
  • Work closely with families and professionals to support young people.

Skills

Experience working with students with SEN
Understanding of the KS3/KS4 curriculum
Building positive relationships with young people

Education

Relevant teaching or SEN qualifications (e.g. QTS, PGCE or Level 3+ SEN)
