A care and education provider is seeking an Education Mentor in Bedford to support learners aged 16-25 with special educational needs. The role involves providing tuition in vital life skills and fostering a nurturing environment. No prior experience is required as the company offers extensive training and support, including the chance to obtain necessary qualifications. A manual driving license is essential. You’ll be working with learners Monday–Friday from 9.00 am to 4 pm with an additional half‑hour of administration time afterwards to record the learning. You’ll work in the Bedford area, with positions available both part‑time and full‑time on a 37‑week term‑time contract. As an Education Mentor, you’ll work at our base in Cotton End and in the community, providing tuition on vital life skills such as using public transport, managing money, and accessing local resources like libraries and sports centres. We support students with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and communication difficulties, aged 16‑25. Our focus is on fostering a nurturing environment that utilizes their interests and passions to enhance learning. Our team consists of confident and skilled individuals who build positive relationships, break down barriers, and help students develop self‑esteem. You must be a driver with your own transport, willing and able to travel across Bedford, supporting young people from their own homes and in the community. At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation you will receive a mixture of eLearning, face‑to‑face training and mentoring support whilst on the job. But it doesn’t stop there – throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in‑house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams. These teams, along with your Manager, will provide opportunities to learn and develop professionally as well as enabling and supporting you to achieve professional qualifications and career progression opportunities – all free of charge. If you do not have an educational qualification, we will support you to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. No prior experience is needed; we provide all the training you need! All you require is a UK manual driving licence and a GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths. If you have not worked in the field of education before then please don’t be put off. We can provide all of the specialist training you need, including the opportunity to gain a certificate in education and training. GCSEs (or equivalent) minimum C grade in English and Mathematics are essential.
Minimum GCSE or equivalent: Grade C in English and Mathematics. A UK manual driving licence is required. Basic driving skills, teaching or support experience are not necessary – we provide specialist training. Underlying ability and attitude are just as important as background and experience.
