An educational placement service in West Bromwich is seeking an SEN Academic Coach to provide 1:1 support to a Year 9 pupil with autism and ADHD. The role involves adapting tasks and liaising with teachers, focusing on small, measurable wins to enhance pupil wellbeing. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and excellent communication skills, with a genuine desire to assist pupils with additional needs.
Do you want hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs before teacher training? Could you provide calm, consistent 1:1 support that helps a Year 9 pupil with autism and ADHD access learning?
You’ll offer daily 1:1 support to a Year 9 pupil, helping them follow routines, stay engaged in lessons, and build independence. You’ll adapt tasks, use visual prompts, scaffold transitions, and record simple progress notes. You’ll liaise with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to keep strategies consistent.
You communicate clearly, stay patient under pressure, and build trust quickly. You follow support plans, keep boundaries firm but fair, and focus on small, measurable wins. You’re organised, reflective, and motivated to remove barriers to learning.
This ‘Good’ secondary in Sandwell has strong inclusion systems and clear routines. You’ll join a supportive SEN team with practical guidance, shared resources, and regular check-ins to help you make impact quickly.
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this SEN Academic Coach role. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial call and interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.
