Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: M30 Trafford

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience

Aspire People is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded primary school in Trafford (M30). We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing school environment and make a real difference in a child's educational and emotional development.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to support a pupil with SEMH needs in accessing learning and achieving positive outcomes. This role requires patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to SEMH needs
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and follow behaviour support strategies
  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support social and emotional development through positive relationship-building
  • Monitor progress and report to teaching and SEN staff
  • Assist with personal care needs if required
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEN/SEMH in a school or specialist setting
  • Good understanding of SEMH and strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approachLevel 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential
