Overview

Horizon Teachers are working with a highly supportive Alternative Provision in Redbridge to recruit an experienced BTEC Teacher to join their team. This centre specialises in supporting KS4 learners who have disengaged from mainstream education and benefit from a structured, therapeutic and personalised curriculum.

The school is looking for a confident practitioner with experience delivering BTEC Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications (subjects flexible - e.g. Sport, Business, ICT, Home Cooking, Art & Design, or Vocational Studies). The focus is on practical, skill-based learning that helps students prepare for next steps in education, apprenticeships or employment.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering BTEC-accredited courses to small KS4 groups
  • Maintaining detailed assessment and portfolio evidence in line with BTEC standards
  • Creating engaging, real-world learning experiences tailored to student interests
  • Supporting learners with SEMH needs and building strong, positive relationships
  • Working collaboratively with the AP's behaviour mentors, therapists and senior leaders
Requirements
  • QTS/QTLS or relevant FE teaching qualification
  • Experience delivering BTEC qualifications
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and the AP environment
  • Strong behaviour management and a pastoral, relational approach
  • DBS Check required as part of the registration process
