A local government authority in Scarborough is looking for a Selective Licensing Officer to improve housing standards. The role involves conducting property inspections, ensuring compliance with licensing conditions, and providing guidance to landlords and tenants. Ideal candidates will have experience in local authority practices and strong problem-solving skills. The purpose of our Private Housing Standards Service is to improve housing standards ensuring all privately rented accommodation is well managed, properly maintained, safe and habitable. This is achieved by providing advice and guidance and where necessary by enforcing relevant legislation to deliver the Councils statutory Housing functions.
As our next Selective Licensing Officer, you will be a critical member of the team, you will support the operational delivery of the Private Housing Standards Service by ensuring that landlords who privately rent out properties in the designated areas apply for a licence, submitting relevant certification for safety checks, have appropriate management in place and complying with a range of licensing conditions.
