Primary & Secondary Tutors – Online and In-Person

Location: Across the Borough of Sefton (including Bootle, Crosby, Maghull, Formby, and Southport)

Contract: Flexible – Part-Time or Full-Time

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: £35ph

About the Role

TeacherActive is seeking dedicated and compassionate Primary and Secondary Tutors to work with pupils across the Sefton borough on a 1:1 basis, both online and in person. Our students have a range of additional and complex needs, including SEMH, ASC, and ADHD. Some pupils are also looked after children who may have experienced trauma or attachment‑related challenges.

This is a rewarding opportunity for educators who are passionate about making a difference. You will plan and deliver bespoke, engaging lessons designed to meet the individual learning styles and emotional needs of each pupil, helping them to rebuild confidence and reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons to support academic progress and emotional development
  • Use flexible and creative teaching strategies to engage learners with diverse needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to foster engagement and consistency
  • Work collaboratively with schools, carers, and external professionals
  • Provide clear feedback and progress reports
  • Teaching Locations May Include:
    • Pupils’ homes
    • Schools or alternative provisions
    • Libraries or community hubs
    • Care homes
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience teaching or tutoring pupils with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or other additional needs
  • A trauma‑informed and empathetic approach to learning
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to plan and adapt lessons to meet individual needs
  • A teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) – desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Flexibility to travel across the Sefton area
