Role: Performance Nutrition Support – Academy
Responsibilities
- Provide support to identified players to optimise individual development.
- Ensure all injured players receive integrated performance nutrition aligned to injury rehabilitation and Return‑to‑Play goals.
- Collaborate with the Academy Head Chef, catering team and the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise the food environment and ensure food provision meets players’ fuelling needs.
- Profile and monitor all performance development players consistently to identify and prioritise insights that drive objective individual support plans.
- Deliver planned and targeted educational input to promote optimal healthy behaviours and an understanding of effective performance nutrition.
- Provide timely reporting and updates to key stakeholders on player progress and status.
- Work with the Performance Nutrition Lead to manage the nutrition budget, enabling consistent strategic and operational delivery of the Academy performance nutrition service.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post‑graduate degree in a relevant subject.
- SENR accreditation or equivalent ISAK level‑1 FA Emergency Aid qualification / UKAD Clean Sport Advisor certification.
- Significant knowledge of nutrition support for young athletes.
- Experience delivering high‑quality nutrition and supplementation programmes/advice to young athletes.
- Experience applying nutrition principles to optimise body composition and support adaptation & recovery in athletes.
- Ability to use data and expertise to generate actionable insights that inform decision‑making.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team providing integrated performance nutrition support in elite sport.
Desirable Attributes
- Previous experience delivering performance nutrition support in an elite football academy.
- Understanding of growth and maturation principles of youth athletes and how they influence nutritional needs.
- Experience developing a planned approach to nutrition support and education delivery.
- Current FA safeguarding certifications.
- Pro‑active, engaging style and willingness to be flexible.
- Commitment to continuous self‑evaluation and improvement.
