Overview

Security Officer - Part Time - Night at Hackensack Meridian Health (RIVERVIEW MEDICAL CENTER, Borough of Red Bank, New Jersey). The Security Officer will assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of patients, team members, physicians, visitors and Medical Center property, including continuous surveillance, reporting and documenting incidents, and delivering quality guest services.

Responsibilities
  • Make continuous patrols throughout the Medical Center to observe and take corrective action regarding violations and dangerous conditions related to security and safety of patients, visitors, team members, students, and property.
  • Respond to calls and codes for security assistance, acting quickly and effectively in emergent and non-emergent situations, including all Codes.
  • Control access to areas, assist patients and visitors, challenge unauthorized persons professionally, issue passes, and enforce Medical Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and control access to facilities owned or operated by Hackensack Meridian Health.
  • Manage traffic flow in parking lots while enforcing parking regulations.
  • Conduct investigations of unusual security occurrences, including interviewing witnesses and documenting information.
  • Respond to fire drills and perform fire watches; facilitate fire department inspections as scheduled.
  • Provide escorts to team members and visitors as needed within jurisdiction.
  • Work in a clean and complete Medical Center uniform, with photo identification badge and security officer breast badge.
  • Inspect outer buildings, grounds, and parking areas; collaborate with facilities on fire and life safety hazards.
  • Inspect packages leaving the Medical Center when necessary and according to policy.
  • Prepare and submit computerized security incident reports and daily activity logs by shift end.
  • Maintain departmental security equipment and report damage; keep Security Leaders informed of safety and security conditions.
  • Adhere to all Medical Center Code of Conduct regulations and departmental procedures and policies, including parking regulations.
  • Complete all in-service training and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Work in all areas of the Medical Center under various weather conditions; perform duties as assigned by Security leadership and support emergency management plans during emergencies.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred:

  • 2 years of college credits.
  • Previous experience as Security Officer or Law Enforcement experience.

Licenses And Certifications Required:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Full-scale State, County, Federal, and License Check will be conducted every other year.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $20.32 Hourly. HM H is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted pay rate is a good faith estimate of the minimum base pay and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

Some positions may be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
