Sea freight Forwarding Operator

Our client is a Freight Forwarding and Logistics operator based in Redditch, Worcestershire. We are now looking for an experienced Sea Freight Forwarding operator to join the expanding team.

The core focus of the role is to handle sea freight import and export operations, but you will also support airfreight and road freight bookings as part of your development into a fully multimodal operator.

This role is ideal for someone with strong sea freight forwarding knowledge who is looking to broaden their freight forwarding skills. No prior experience in air or road freight is required – full training will be provided on air and road freight forwarding.

Alongside operational responsibilities, this position includes a commercial element involving outbound customer calls to help support and grow our multimodal freight services.

Main duties
  • Manage sea freight import and export files from quotation through to final delivery
  • Support airfreight and road freight booking processes (training provided)
  • Communicate effectively with customers, overseas agents, suppliers, and internal departments
  • Arrange customs clearance, documentation, and final delivery bookings
  • Resolve operational issues promptly and professionally
  • Ensure files are accurately costed, invoiced, and maintained
  • Monitor customer and supplier credit limits in line with company policy
  • Carry out additional tasks as requested by the line manager
Experience required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in sea freight operations working for a freight forwarder
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes
  • Experience with customs clearance procedures
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Proactive problem-solver with a positive approachExperience in airfreight or road freight is desirable but not essential (training provided)
