Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher with QTS (they will consider unqualified) to deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons, strong subject knowledge, and a commitment to raising achievement. You will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, and the wider life of the school, ensuring that all learners are supported to make excellent progress.

The contract is for 9 months covering maternity leave, starting in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning
  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring lessons are well‑planned, engaging, and appropriately differentiated.
  • Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and maintain high standards of subject knowledge.
  • Create a positive learning environment with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and practical activities to support scientific understanding.
  • Prepare and update resources, practical materials and schemes of work as required.
Pastoral & Wider School Contribution
  • Serve as a Form Tutor, supporting the pastoral development and wellbeing of students.
  • Promote good attendance, punctuality and behaviour across the form group.
  • Engage with parents/carers and external agencies when necessary.
  • Support whole‑school events, enrichment activities and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe, supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Unqualified depending on experience
  • Degree in a Science discipline.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to achieving high standards and securing the best outcomes for students.
