Job summary

An education recruitment agency is seeking a friendly and organized Receptionist for a Secondary School in Lewisham. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and calls, managing reception tasks and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a receptionist role, preferably within a school, along with strong communication and organizational skills. This position offers a rate of £15 - £17 per hour and a long-term contract.

Receptionist – Secondary School in Lewisham

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Receptionist to be the first point of contact for a Secondary School in Lewisham. This key role ensures smooth day‑to‑day operations and provides excellent customer service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors. The school is a specialist setting dedicated to supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs who cannot attend mainstream school, and prides itself on creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Location: Lewisham, South East London
Rate: £15 - £17 per hour
Contract: Long term, ongoing
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday
Start Date: ASAP

Key Duties / Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and incoming calls, ensuring a warm and professional welcome.
  • Manage the school’s reception area and maintain security protocols for signing in and out.
  • Handle general administrative tasks, including managing emails, filing and updating records.
  • Support the wider admin team with tasks such as scheduling appointments and preparing documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding procedures at all times.
Key Skills / Experience
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role is essential, preferably within a school.
  • Previous experience within a SEND/SEMH school would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using school systems (training provided).
