Overview

Westminster Abbey Choir School is seeking a highly organised and personable School Office Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our front-of-house and administrative services. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and staff, you'll play a vital role in delivering a warm, professional welcome while ensuring the smooth operation of reception, communications, and compliance processes. In this varied and rewarding role, you'll support the Headteacher and School Business Manager, manage pupil records, coordinate training and health and safety tasks, and oversee key administrative functions. You'll deputise for senior staff when needed, contribute to safeguarding and first aid provision, and liaise with internal departments to maintain high standards across the school. We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and experience in school administration or a similar setting. A proactive, self-motivated approach and a commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day running of front‑of‑house and administrative services; act as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and staff.
  • Support the Headteacher and School Business Manager; manage pupil records; coordinate training and health and safety tasks.
  • Oversee key administrative functions and deputise for senior staff when needed.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and first aid provision; liaise with internal departments to maintain high standards across the school.

Pre-Interview and Appointment Requirements
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide proof of identity and right to work in the UK when attending for interview.
  • References will be contacted in advance; an online search will be conducted in line with safer recruitment practices.
  • All appointments are subject to: satisfactory health clearance; documentary evidence of all qualifications claimed; a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS; a minimum of two references deemed satisfactory by Westminster Abbey Choir School; completion of an online search.
  • The School’s policy is to verify all references and, in line with best practice, to ascertain the reasons for the termination of any previous employment where a candidate has worked with children.
  • The role will be subject to a six‑month probationary period.
