Job description
Overview

Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) with a strong public health focus. We are recruiting qualified SCPHNs committed to delivering and improving the health and well-being of school-aged children.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a defined caseload and cluster of primary and secondary schools.
  • Lead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19).
  • Plan, implement and evaluate interventions in response to changing health needs.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers, education and other multiagency professionals.
  • Provide confidential support and advice to young people in different venues.
  • Facilitate the delivery of health promotion and health education activities in school and community settings.
Requirements
  • Applicants must hold a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification in School Nursing (essential).
  • RGN/RSNC and School Nursing professional qualification, with entry onto the 3rd part of the NMC Register (essential).
  • Excellent communication skills (IT, written and oral) and the ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Ability to support management of change, development and working practices; set objectives and manage time, priorities and stress.
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately and safely; work as part of a team and with other agencies.
  • Understanding of safeguarding processes and child protection procedures; knowledge of clinical governance and current legislation and guidance.
  • Experience working with children and families; ability to identify, respond to and evaluate health needs, including delivery of public health programs.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and awareness of equal opportunities and valuing diversity.
