This role sits within a highly technical architecture team, supporting complex satellite communications programmes by defining, maintaining, and evolving system architectures from current (As-Is) to future (To-Be) states. You’ll work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure architectural coherence, traceability, and alignment with programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the SATCOM Engineering Design Authority with the development and maintenance of SATCOM programme system architectures.
  • Develop, maintain, and control system architecture baselines, including interfaces and system interdependencies.
  • Support the development of SATCOM architecture roadmaps from As-Is to To-Be states.
  • Capture, manage, and maintain architectural artefacts within the authority repository.
  • Translate user needs into clear system functionality through the development and use of use cases.
  • Apply structured technical architecture processes when working on complex systems.
  • Communicate effectively between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to architecture governance activities and technical reviews as required.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience developing and maintaining system architecture baselines, including interface and dependency management.
  • Strong experience translating user needs into system functionality using use cases.
  • Experience applying formal technical architecture processes within complex system environments.
  • Knowledge of satellite communication systems.
  • Experience using the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of military satellite communications systems.
  • Experience working within MOD environments, including familiarity with KiD and GEAR.
  • Experience with architecture tooling such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or BizzDesign (working knowledge of BizzDesign preferred).
  • Knowledge of architecture modelling languages such as ArchiMate, UML, or SysML (working knowledge of ArchiMate preferred).
  • Understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle (e.g. INCOSE, ISO / IEC 15288).
  • Experience developing service architectures and solution architectures.

If you’re ready to step into a role where your architectural expertise supports mission-critical satellite communications programmes, we want to hear from you. Apply below or send your up to date CV to Declan Bryson at Anson McCade on Declan.Bryson@ansonmccade.com quoting the below reference.
