Purpose of the Job
The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and analysing business requirements for the SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA migration project. The role involves acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that the solution aligns with business needs and project objectives. The Business Analyst will work closely with functional teams, IT, and external consultants to define requirements, conduct gap analysis, and support the overall design and implementation of the new system.
Dimensions / Scale
- Project Scope: Working across multiple business functions (Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, etc.) to gather and define requirements for the SAP S/4HANA system, ensuring that business objectives are met.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with business stakeholders at all levels to ensure their needs are captured and reflected in the solution design.
- Collaboration: Working closely with IT teams, external consultants (System Integrator), and functional leads to ensure that business requirements are translated into functional specifications and system configurations.
- Geographical Scope: Supporting business units across different regions (e.g., UK, Australia) in capturing their specific requirements and ensuring alignment with the global project goals.
Need to do
- Work with business stakeholders to gather and document detailed business requirements for the SAP S/4HANA system.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to capture functional requirements and identify areas where the new system can streamline processes or add value.
- Ensure that business requirements are clearly articulated and documented, providing a basis for system design and configuration.
- Conduct a thorough gap analysis between the current SAP ECC system and SAP S/4HANA, identifying any functional or process gaps.
- Work with business users to understand where customisations or changes to business processes may be required and propose solutions.
- Map current business processes and workflows, ensuring alignment with SAP S/4HANA’s capabilities and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Business Process Analyst and functional teams to ensure that processes are optimised and meet the business’s strategic goals.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications that can be used by technical teams to configure the SAP S/4HANA system.
- Work with the System Integrator (SI) to ensure that the proposed solution aligns with business needs and SAP best practices.
- Support the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in developing test cases and scenarios based on the business requirements.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure that the system meets business expectations and address any issues raised during testing.
- Serve as a point of contact for business stakeholders throughout the project, ensuring clear and consistent communication about project progress, requirements, and changes.
- Regularly update key stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues, and facilitate decision‑making when required.
- Provide support post‑go‑live to ensure a smooth transition to SAP S/4HANA, addressing any concerns or issues raised by business users.
- Ensure proper documentation of new processes and systems, and assist in user training and adoption where necessary.

Skills / Knowledge / Personal Attributes:
- Business Analysis Expertise: Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies and tools, with the ability to gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional specifications.
- ERP Knowledge: In‑depth understanding of ERP systems, particularly SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, with a focus on functional areas such as Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
- Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Experience in the book or publishing industry, with insight into its specific financial processes and challenges, particularly around royalty accounting, rights management, and financial reporting.
- Process Mapping Skills: Ability to map current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement or alignment with SAP S/4HANA best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and facilitate workshops or meetings.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct gap analysis and propose practical solutions that meet business needs.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment, collaborating with business users, IT teams, and external consultants.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in gathering requirements, developing documentation, and ensuring accurate translation into technical specifications.
Experience:
- Business Analysis Experience: 5‑7 years of experience in business analysis, ideally within ERP implementations or migrations (SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA).
- SAP Project Experience: Proven experience working on SAP projects, including gathering requirements, performing gap analysis, and supporting system design and testing.
- ERP Knowledge: Deep understanding of SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA functionality, with experience in working with core modules (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement).
- Stakeholder Management: Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and business users to capture requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Testing and UAT: Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validating that the solution meets business requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Strong experience in creating clear and comprehensive documentation, including functional specifications, business requirements, and process maps.
