Description
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Sampling and Analysis Technician to join our team at Tilbury. This role plays a key part in maintaining high standards across our fuel processing operations.
As an Sampling and Analysis Technician, you’ll be responsible for:
- Sampling and testing processed fuel in accordance with company procedures.
- Inspecting inbound loads to identify and report quality issues.
- Building and maintaining a supplier quality database, helping track expected standards and flag deviations.
- Collaborating with Procurement and Operations teams to support supplier management and ensure material quality on site.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, a proactive mindset, and a passion for quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Sampling and Testing of Processed Material: Conduct particle size and moisture testing on processed materials. Coordinate external laboratory testing for additional sample analysis.
- Inbound Quality Monitoring: Oversee the quality of inbound materials at Tilbury 1 and Tilbury 2 sites, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Supplier Quality Database Maintenance: Maintain and update the supplier quality database to support procurement and operational decision-making.
- Inbound Sampling for Quality Intelligence: Perform sampling of inbound loads to gather data for quality intelligence and trend analysis.
- Supplier Intelligence and Tipping Area Allocation: Use supplier quality insights to allocate appropriate tipping areas on site, optimizing the picking process while minimizing health and safety risks.
- Operational Guidance on Material Acceptance: Provide real-time guidance to Operations teams on material acceptance or rejection, based on current fuel and plant conditions.
- Collaboration with Procurement on Supply Chain Quality: Work closely with the Procurement team to audit suppliers and maintain consistent supply chain quality standards.
- Cross-Site Learning and Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the sharing of quality-related learnings and best practices between SATs across multiple sites.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- GCSE-level proficiency in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with an IT qualification or equivalent experience
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Advanced spreadsheet reporting, including data analysis and presentation
- Strong time management, consistently meeting tight deadlines
- Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments

- Confident communicator across all levels, from site operatives to senior leadership
- Highly organised, with meticulous attention to detail and a focus on accuracy in documentation
