Salaried Partner – Construction – Stamford, Lincolnshire

Are you ready to join a highly successful law firm? Are you an experienced and commercially aware Senior Lawyer? Would you like to join one of the oldest law firms in the UK? We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Construction Partner to join a growing Construction team. The role will have a primary focus on contentious construction and engineering matters, including complex dispute resolution, while also involving some noncontentious advisory and contractual work to support clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Contentious Construction Work (Core Focus)
  • Acting for employers, contractors, consultants, and subcontractors in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations, and litigation (including TCC proceedings).
  • Advise clients on issues such as delays, defects, payment, variations, termination, and professional negligence.
  • Manage complex disputes with a strategic, commercially driven approach.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, submissions, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
  • Provide risk management and dispute avoidance advice across live projects.
Non-Contentious Construction Work (Supporting Element)
  • Advise on and draft construction and engineering contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, and related documentation.
  • Support clients on procurement strategy, risk allocation, and contract administration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Real Estate and Corporate teams on wider transactions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Build and strengthen client relationships through responsive and solution‑driven advice.
  • Work closely with the Head of Construction and other partners on joint mandates and client development initiatives.
  • Contribute to marketing and thought leadership, including seminars, publications, and networking events.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team on contentious and advisory matters.
Qualifications
  • A Law Degree with 8+ years PQE; experience in construction law would be advantageous.
  • Commercially aware and understand the client's business needs.
  • Experience in advocacy, negotiation, and drafting.
  • The ability to work on one’s own as well as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car during working hours.
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines with various case loads.
Hours of Work

09.00 – 17.15 hrs – Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week).
