Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Element has an excellent opportunity for Safety, Health and Environment Business Partner to support its Environmental business and the 10 locations across the UK. As a member of the divisional leadership team, this position will partner with local management teams to support the implementation of the Element SHE program. This position reports directly to the Built Environment Snr SHE Manager whilst working closely with the Divisional Director and the wider Divisional management team. Ideally, the successfulperson will be based in the North-West of England with flexibility to travel crucial to the role. It is anticipated that this role will require frequent travel to Element locations and client sites across UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

Supporting divisional leadership to:

  • Provide support to the wider Business Unit SHE Management Team
  • Integrate Element SHE programs within the daily operations of the Environmental Europe Division
  • Understand the wider coverage requirements of the division and ensure roles and responsibilities are appropriately established across the division
  • Actively provide necessary guidance and support the application of risk control measures for all stakeholders
  • Support the creation of improvement plans and monitor progress of their implementation as necessary
  • Ensure a suitable Training Needs Analysis is completed for the division and that appropriate training programs are developed to ensure a competent workforce.
  • Coach divisional leadership and operations teams within the Environmental Europe Division
  • Support the review and development of Element Business Practices, Operational SOP's and Risk Assessments
  • Support the development of annual improvement plans
  • Facilitate the completion of audits and management system reviews
  • Ensure locations achieve compliance with applicable regulatory and Element SHE program requirements
  • Assess opportunities for improvement, shares best practice across Element.
  • Support local SHE Managers and focal points across divisional locations and workstreams
  • Communicate and engage effectively across all levels.
  • Monitors and reports on improvement plan progress to the Business Unit Snr SHE Manager and Divisional Director
Skills / Qualifications
  • Ideally a Degree or National Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Risk Management or Occupational Safety related subjects. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of suitable education and work experience in desirable fields will be considered.
  • Minimum experience level: 5-10 years' experience with some experience of managing a team desirable.
  • The candidate must have a broad understanding of UK HSE legislation.
  • Ideally a strong working knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations and the Work at Height Regulations.
  • Experience of construction, demolition activities and / or working around industrial site-based facilities preferred.
  • Previous work experience on large industrial or COMAH sites is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOP's, Contractors Code of Conduct, Site Safety Rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions, Customer Testing specifications and Procedural Manuals.
  • Ability to produce reports and appropriately correspond with various stakeholders and interested parties.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and also to customer organizations.
  • Ability to calculate figures, statistics and data in line with necessary SHE metrics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with zero or low endorsements.
