Job summary

A leading soap manufacturer in Glasgow is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Coordinator. In this role, you will champion safety and environmental excellence across operations, working to ensure compliance with legal and company standards. You should have FMCG experience and relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH. The position offers a salary of £35,000 per annum along with 33 days holiday and additional benefits, including a pension and income protection.

Overview

The Soapworks SHE Coordinator will drive a culture of safety, health and environment across operations as the business scales from 20 million to 70 million bars per year. You will be proactive, hands-on and focused on protecting our people, processes and planet while supporting and inspiring a passionate team to reach new heights.

At Soapworks, we create high-quality, sustainable soap products for global brands including hair and body cleansers and aromatic oils. As our SHE Coordinator, you’ll be part of every step to ensure growth is safe, sustainable and responsible.

  • Salary: £35,000 per annum + 33 days holiday, rising with service

The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and driven Safety, Health & Environment Coordinator to champion safety and environmental excellence across operations, shaping, implementing, and continually improving our standards and workplace wellbeing. This role supports plans for a new factory and a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure SHE compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong SHE culture at all levels.
  • Develop and support SHE skills among managers, supervisors and staff.
  • Oversee risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Manage health & safety policies, procedures, records, and ISO 14001, 45001 and client standards.
  • Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure timely action points.
  • Monitor legislative updates and SHE performance KPIs.
  • Maintain environmental compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental procedures.
Education / Qualifications / Experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment, ideally within an SME.
  • Knowledge of environmental practices and compliance in manufacturing/FMCG.
  • Experience with ISO9001/ ISO14001/ ISO45001 internal audit practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience developing and delivering engaging SHE presentations (induction training, toolbox talks).
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques is advantageous.

  • Clean driving licence is ideal but not essential
