Are you looking to take the next step in your Principal Designer career? Our client is expanding, and we’re looking for an ambitious Assistant Principal Designer – Safety to join our growing team. This role offers hands-on project exposure, supported progression, and the opportunity to work across a wide variety of exciting multidisciplinary projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Principal Designer Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of CDM duties, including preparing Pre-Construction Information (PCI).
- Review design packs, survey results and technical reports through a H&S lens.
- Contribute to Design Team Meetings and lead Risk Workshops on larger schemes.
- Review contractor documentation: CPPs, RAMS, TMPs, etc.
- Submit F10 notifications and undertake site inspections with the Principal Contractor.
- Prepare and review H&S Files at project completion.
Party Wall Work
- Issue Party Wall Notices and undertake Schedules of Condition.
- Research ownership information and support the preparation of Party Wall Awards.
Wider Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery.
- Represent Expedite at networking events and contribute to business development.
- Champion safety, compliance, and best practice across the business.
- Prepare fee proposals and support internal commercial decisions.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Architecture or related construction discipline.
- 2–4 years’ design experience (architectural or technical).
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM, BSA, and industry best practice.
- Understanding of project budgets, milestones and deliverables.
- Working towards (or interested in) APS Associate membership.
- Confident communicator with interest in client engagement and business development.
- Willingness to travel across the Southwest, South Wales, and occasionally UK-wide (some overnight stays).
- Ready to run your own projects independently within 6–12 months with full support and mentoring.
