The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of veterinary medicines in the UK.

We have a vacancy for a Safety Assessor

This exciting and interesting job puts you at the heart of the VMD\'s Human and Environmental Safety (H&ES) team, within the Pharmaceuticals team of the Authorisations division.

This team is responsible for assessing the human and environmental safety aspects of applications for Marketing Authorisations and Animal Test Certificates for veterinary medicinal products (VMPs).

Your role will be to assess data submitted for applications for variations to marketing authorisations (MAs) for veterinary medicines, and to propose risk mitigation measures where required, contributing to the benefit:risk assessment of the product as a whole.

Experience
  • Toxicology and/or pharmacology
  • Risk assessment
  • Regulatory affairs
  • Working as part of a team
  • Good scientific writing and/or data analysis
  • Good organisational ability.

In addition, you must be able to use Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, be able to use or learn to use SharePoint, and be prepared to learn to use VMD bespoke databases.
