Safeguarding Mental Health Nurse – Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) | 2 Vacancies: Central Manchester & North Manchester General Hospital

We are seeking passionate and skilled Safeguarding Mental Health Nurses to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team at Manchester Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our care.

As part of the Safeguarding Service, you will:

  • Provide specialist advice, support, and guidance on safeguarding concerns relating to adults and children with mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams, social care, and external partners to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care in line with safeguarding legislation and MFT policy.
  • Support colleagues in their practice by embedding safeguarding and mental health principles, rather than providing direct patient-facing care.

This role is ideal for an experienced Mental Health Nurse with a strong understanding of safeguarding processes, legislation, and best practice. You will be joining a supportive, knowledgeable team committed to continuous improvement and excellence in safeguarding. Training will be provided and you will be well supported throughout your role.

If you are motivated to improve safeguarding outcomes and passionate about supporting staff in delivering the very best care for patients with mental health conditions, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns within mental health
  • Provide expert advice, supervision, and training to staff on Mental Health
  • Support staff in identifying and managing risks related to mental health, including suicide prevention, restraint reduction and managing distressed behaviours
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure effective safeguarding pathways and interventions
  • Contribute to safeguarding investigations, risk assessments, and care planning
  • Promote a culture of professional curiosity and trauma-informed safeguarding practice across the Trust
