A leading educational institution in Paignton seeks a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator. In this role, you will support students aged 14+ by providing 1-1 wellbeing support and promoting positive mental health. The successful candidate should have experience working with young people and a sound understanding of safeguarding protocols. Salary: £20,449.50 to £22,675.00 per annum (pro rata of £25,756 to £28,559)
Contract Type: Term‑time only, permanent. 37 hours per week, 36 weeks per year
Location: Paignton, Devon
As part of a dedicated Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team who support students aged 14+, you will perform the duties of a Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team member. You will work closely with other members of the Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team, offering ongoing 1‑1 support for students alongside also offering drop‑ins and urgent support to those in need. You will be supported day‑to‑day by the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and the Head of Student Services & Wellbeing. The main focus of this role is to provide wellbeing support to South Devon College students enabling them to succeed.
You will work with a caseload of students to support them 1‑1 and help them develop effective strategies and tools to overcome wellbeing issues and to enable positive mental health, whilst maintaining high levels of communication with a young person’s Personal Tutor and other relevant personnel, including external support professionals such as NHS medical staff, GPs, social workers and CAMHS teams, where appropriate.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with and supporting young people with an understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection. You should have excellent listening and organisational skills. You will have the ability to build trusting and professional relationships with young people [and colleagues] from a wide variety of backgrounds.
