Safeguarding and Multi Agency Manager - Newham - PRU

  • Salary Dependant on Experience
  • No teaching qualifications required
  • Start Date: October Half Term
  • Funding until February Half Term

Parker Smith Inclusion are seeking an experienced professional to join a specialist team supporting children and young people in an alternative provision in Newham. This is a short-term, fixed-term role funded until the end of March, offering an immediate opportunity to make a tangible impact in a dynamic and multi-agency environment.

The Role

The role combines management, strategy, and direct intervention. You will provide light-touch line management to a skilled group of staff and external specialists while also maintaining a small caseload of young people yourself. The work focuses on improving structure, monitoring, and reporting, while continuing to deliver meaningful interventions that demonstrate positive outcomes for pupils.

The post has become available following an internal promotion of the previous post-holder, whose strong track record of relationship building, reporting, and hands-on support with children sets a clear benchmark for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide light-touch line management to a team including safeguarding and transitions coaches, as well as external professionals.
  • Strengthen reporting systems for interventions, including tracking outcomes and meeting Department for Education requirements.
  • Manage a small personal caseload and deliver targeted interventions with children and young people.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff, maintaining a balance of leadership and hands-on practice.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-agency partners to address safeguarding and support needs effectively.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Safeguarding expertise, ideally including DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) training.
  • Proven management and leadership experience.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills with the ability to create and embed structure.
  • Experience of working in a PRU, alternative provision, outreach, or youth work setting.
  • Confidence and skill in working directly with children and young people with complex needs.
Personal Attributes
  • Approachable, relatable, and able to engage effectively with young people.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of navigating multi-agency environments with professionalism.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strategic and impact-focused, while remaining grounded in day-to-day practice.
Contract and Financial Details
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term (until end of March)
  • Start Date: Ideally by October half term (earlier welcome, to allow for a transition and shadowing period)
  • Daily Rate: Up to £230 per day (inclusive of agency charge). This reflects the requirement for significant experience. The rate may be negotiable for an exceptional candidate.
