Job responsibilities
- Work with the system manager to provide on‑going support and advice to system users relating to clinical, administrative and management functions and maintain the protocol website ensuring documents are up to date and that document control is in place.
- Advise on reconfiguration of the system and services in response to end‑user requirements.
- Ensure knowledge and expertise are shared throughout the local community, avoid re‑inventing and protect the system from vulnerability to staffing or service changes.
- Update and expand online training resources and provide personal training when necessary.
- Develop and maintain a system for validation and accreditation of system users, including allocating appropriate password levels to staff groups.
- Collaborate with the Lead Pharmacist for Cancer Care and the Lead SACT e‑prescribing technician to assist with strategic development of the system, designing, enhancing and testing appropriate fields, implementing modifications and enhancements, including system upgrades when required.
- Identify highly complex clinical trials requiring regimen development.
- Liaise with trial sponsors, clinicians and trial staff to ensure regimens follow protocol and allocate verification work.
- Manage entry and verification of approved chemotherapy protocols onto the network‑wide electronic prescribing system; include current clinical trials where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a failsafe system for chemotherapy prescribing to be employed in event of breakdown of the electronic prescribing system.
- Manage system failures liaising with hub hosts and software providers and local Trusts to rectify and implement solutions in response to downtime.
- Ensure data integrity and systems are managed in accordance with Caldicott and data protection act guidelines.

Qualifications and experience
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Management qualification equivalent to at least intermediate management level
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical science and equivalent level of in‑depth specialist organisational and procedural knowledge of pharmacy services
- Can demonstrate understanding of current professional regulations and issues
- Extensive experience of pharmacy IT systems
- Experience of managing staff and or services
- Other relevant pharmacy or research qualifications e.g., ACPT, PIPC, Medicines Management as essential
