Overview

At West Suffolk Hospital, we are committed to delivering high‑quality and safe care. We are recruiting a Rotational Pharmacy Assistant to join our pharmacy team and support patient medication management across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities
  • Dispense and label medicines, including controlled drugs, for supply to wards and departments.
  • Receive, unpack, and store medicines and bulk fluids in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Conduct regular ward stock checks and top‑ups to ensure medication availability.
  • Assist with in‑patient and outpatient reception duties, utilising effective communication, customer service, and organisational skills.
  • Participate in rotational pharmacy areas, including Inpatient, Outpatient Dispensary, Reception, Distribution, Goods‑In, and Pharmacy Stores.
  • Support quality assurance activities as rotations allow.
Qualifications
  • Ordinarily resident within the UK for 3 years.
  • Level 2 pharmacy services apprenticeship qualification, or willingness to commence study (12‑18 month programme) at the earliest opportunity.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organisational skills.
  • Pro‑active, passionate, and dedicated to exceptional patient care.
Training & Development

The post holder will commence study of the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Apprenticeship at the earliest opportunity, approximately 12‑18 months after the start date. Support from internal and external sources will be available to achieve this qualification and provide a foundation for career progression.
