Job summary

A leading UK cargo service provider is looking for an Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic Maintenance Technician in Nottingham. Responsibilities include rectifying issues in various systems, generating reports, and assisting in safety procedures. The ideal candidate will possess NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and relevant hands-on engineering experience. Job description
Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic Maintenance Technician – DB Cargo UK

Responsibilities:

  • Rectification on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Work to Maintenance Plans.
  • Generate reports for on‑going work, Condition Reports and Production Reports.
  • Report defective items.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Play an active part in accident investigations.
  • Assist in the formulation of Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist with on‑the‑job training of other Team Members, trainees and DB Cargo (UK) employees and contractors.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Undertake any required training to support the development of the team and depot operation (e.g. Designated Person (depot), Risk Assessor or COSHH Custodian).
  • Operate the fuel point and use specific I.T systems dedicated to this task.
  • Order material.
  • Operate powered devices including fixed and mobile cranes, wheel lathe, wheel drop, forklift trucks, road and rail vehicles, HIAB.
Science Technician

Main Tasks:

  • Prepare and maintain resources under the guidance and supervision of teaching and senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations.
  • Lift jacks and other heavy items as required, subject to training, certification and reassessment.
Who are we looking for?

Successful candidates will have a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) as a minimum. The NVQ Level 3 could have been obtained through an engineering apprenticeship or at a College/Sixth Form in an engineering discipline. Applicants must also have hands‑on engineering experience displayed in their application. Experience in a similar rail sector role is an advantage but not essential. Forward‑thinking with the ability to adapt to new ways of working and positively contribute to changes is valued.

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Technician – DB Cargo UK

Safely and professionally maintain and service locomotives and third‑party fleet. Ensure all work on traction & rolling stock (T&RS) and components is completed in a safe, thorough, professional and timely manner.

  • Remove hazards encountered.
  • Perform fault diagnosis and Finance System Integration Support.

Salary: £40 185 per annum (inclusive of additional hours and shift allowance), or £45 000–£50 000 for a 9‑month FTC in Nottingham (£45 000–£50 000 plus completion bonus). Hybrid model: 3 days in office, 2 days work‑from‑home.
