Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering is essential.
  • Must be working towards IEng or CEng qualification.
  • Good communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prepare, and supervise Major Maintenance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Plan and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Prepare designs in accordance with DMRB & SHW.
  • Supervise site operations and liaise with stakeholders.

Skills

Relevant Civil Engineering degree

Knowledge of current design standards
Working knowledge of contract control and management systems
Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure

Roads Design Engineer

BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.

The M80 Stepps to Haggs DBFO links Glasgow and the south to Stirling and the north, and is one of the busiest Motorway sections in central Scotland. BEAR Scotland has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the M80 Stepps to Haggs DBFO since construction of the project began in March 2009.

We have an exciting opportunity for Roads Design Engineer to join our existing team. You will report directly to the Asset Manager and assist in the delivery of the key contract deliverables.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design, preparation and supervision of Major Maintenance projects
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality procedures that form part of the integrated management systems.
  • Planning, programming and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Undertaking and preparing designs in accordance with the DMRB & SHW.
  • Preparing and delivering operations in compliance with the CDM Regulation 2015
  • Preparation and management of scheme and site files.
  • Preparation of detailed design drawings
  • Understand traffic management requirements, construction methods, materials and works programming.
  • Liaison with stakeholders.
  • Supervision of site operations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
