Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Risk Transformation Lead to drive the evolution of BCB Group's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework and strategies. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining the future state of our risk function and cross‑functional implementation and transformation. This role could evolve into a Head of Risk role for the BCB Group for an outstanding individual who shows themself to be successful in this transformational phase.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and other senior executives on risk‑related strategic topics, risk governance and emerging risks.
  • Drive organisational change management within the Risk function and across the enterprise to ensure new processes, technologies, and risk frameworks are effectively adopted. Review and enhance the firm's current ERM framework including its policies, taxonomy, risk assessment methodologies, and risk appetites.
  • Define and shape BCB's risk strategy and risk culture in alignment with the firm's overall business objectives, current and evolving regulatory landscape, and global regulatory footprint growth.
  • Contribute to building a Risk function and capability in new markets and for new regulatory licence requirements.
  • Establish and maintain robust ERM programme governance across all functions. Design and implement cross‑business strategic risk initiatives that enhance the risk and control self‑assessment process across risk identification, measurement, monitoring and control effectiveness.
  • Build and implement qualitative and quantitative Board and executive level risk reporting frameworks and KRIs that provide risk‑based insights for the business to enable effective risk oversight and decision‑making.
  • Develop business cases for major risk transformation programmes, including GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) platforms and tooling, and implement and embed these programmes effectively into the business in collaboration with our technology and operational teams. Manage programme budgets, timelines, and resourcing to ensure successful delivery of milestones and realisation of expected benefits.
  • Partner with the business. Partner with technology and security, with risk‑related audits and reports required for our regulatory licences. Partner with product in the assessment of risk in our product lifecycle from launch of new products through reviews of existing products and control improvements, ensuring that risk is fully integrated into our product function.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Risk function.
    You will have worked in financial services, ideally with the regulated payments, e‑money, or banking sectors, and have gained at least 8‑10 years professional experience in a risk management or consulting role with a focus on risk management, strategy or transformation. Experience of working with both major financial institutions and fintechs is preferred. You will have deep domain expertise and a solid understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and the interconnectedness of risk disciplines.
  • Good applicable regulatory knowledge. Familiarity with key financial services rules, guidelines and regulations applicable to BCB's business including PSD2, EMD, EBA, FCA SYSC, MiCAR and DORA.
  • Experience in developing risk strategies and solutions and working with technical (product and engineering) and operations teams to implement them. Demonstrated leadership across multiple dimensions of risk.
  • Exceptional organisational, programme management, and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple large‑scale initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive significant organisational change in a large, fast‑moving corporate environment.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information and distil into readily comprehensible and practical advice relevant to the commercial, strategic and financial context, applying a risk‑based approach to development of management information insights, business solutions and decision‑making. Financially astute.
  • Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach by finding different ways to look at problems and design novel solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with and influence senior leaders and internal and external stakeholders across product/engineering, sales, data science, and operations teams.
  • Autonomous, pro‑active and hands‑on with the ability to prioritise and manage own work effectively, apply a breadth of technical, business, product and customer domain knowledge, own the outcome and make an impact.
  • Used to working in a diverse, international, fast‑moving business and fast evolving regulatory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. A relevant professional certification is a strong plus.
