Risk & Best Practice Manager - Bath - Legal Sector

Location: Bath (Hybrid & Flexible)

Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (depending on experience)

A leading law firm is seeking two dynamic Risk & Best Practice Managers to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing complex risk and compliance matters while contributing to strategic projects and promoting a culture of best practice across the firm.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Risk & Best Practice Lawyer, you'll act as an escalation point for higher-risk compliance issues and lead on a variety of risk-related workstreams. You'll work closely with divisional and business leads, providing expert advice and helping shape the firm's approach to regulatory compliance, ethics, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Advising partners and staff on complex risk and compliance matters
  • Managing risk-related projects and supporting new business initiatives
  • Updating precedent documents and operational policies
  • Producing and analysing compliance data to identify process improvements
  • Delivering bespoke training programmes across divisions
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and drafting briefing notes for senior stakeholders
  • Coaching junior team members and contributing to team development
  • Supporting the escalation of high-risk matters to the Risk Committee
Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a legal or compliance professional with:

  • Extensive experience in law firm risk and compliance
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and codes of conduct
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities
  • Experience managing or coaching others (desirable)
  • Qualified solicitor status (desirable)
  • Degree-level education or equivalent legal/compliance qualification
Working Arrangements

The firm supports hybrid working across all roles. Attendance at one of the offices in Bath, Oxford, or London is expected, with flexibility to accommodate personal commitments.
