Job overview

A general radiologist with a specialist interest in Urological and Gastrointestinal imaging is sought. Ability to report Colon CT, small bowel MRI, Upper and lower GI MRI would be favorable. The successful candidate will participate in regular Urology Cancer MDT as part of an MDT team of radiologists. The department has regular Upper / lower GI and colorectal MDTs which the successful candidate would be encouraged to participate in and develop. The successful candidate would be encouraged to develop new opportunities in Genitourinary and Gastrointestinal imaging with clinical and radiology colleagues locally and across South West London Integrated Care System.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the diagnostic radiology on-call rota. We have a weekday on call on site from 5‑8pm. Overnight CT between 8pm‑8am is reported by an outsourced company (4Ways) and there is a separate weekend interventional on call rota.

The department has a key focus on Risk and Governance and has developed a joined‑up structure for reviewing, reporting and learning from errors. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in regular REALMS meetings and participate in a panel of three radiology consultants (on a 3‑month rolling rota) who will review all incidents, assign degree of risk and undertake appropriate investigations to fruition. SPA up to 2 PAs is contingent on this participation and participation in regular audit in the department.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
  • CCT and on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or Surgeons (MRCS)

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Current wide range of cross‑sectional experience (CT, MRI, US).
  • Subspeciality Uroradiology experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of upper GI radiology reporting
  • Basic interventional radiology skills (e.g. biopsies / drainages)

Management Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate at a strategic and operational level.
Desirable criteria
  • Attended management training course
  • Knowledge of finance / budgets

Experience in Training, Audit and Research

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors.
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Relevant research articles in peer‑reviewed journals
Desirable criteria
  • Completed ‘Train the Trainers’ course.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.
