Earning £45 per retainer shift and £130 per call-out, this role allows you to experience nursing in a unique setting where no two days are the same.

How It Works

This is a retainer service:

  • No need to remain on site constantly.
  • You should be within 60 minutes travel time of the site.
  • Attend within 60 minutes if called, with average calls lasting 60-75 minutes once on site.
What you will do
  • Conduct autonomous clinical assessments to determine detainees’ fitness for detention, transfer, or release.
  • Deliver treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, escalating care as necessary.
  • Perform forensic examinations and gather specimens.
  • Provide assessment and support for individuals with mental health concerns, safeguarding issues, drug or alcohol withdrawal, or learning disabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with PACE legislation (Code C) and professional governance standards.
Requirements
  • Registered Adult Nurse or Paramedic with relevant HCPC/NMC registration.
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience ideally from A&E, Prison, Surgical, or Community Nursing backgrounds.
  • ILS certification from the Resuscitation Council.
  • Trained in venepuncture.
  • Level 3 Safeguarding Adults & Children qualification.
  • Confident in making autonomous decisions.
