Job description
Overview

As a Customer Team Leader, you'll be part of a friendly team that's dedicated to helping our customers. You'll help lead the store team — coaching and supervising Customer Team Members and deputising for the Store Manager, while delivering great customer service and performing a wide range of tasks around the store such as re-stocking shelves and cleaning up spillages.

At Co-op, we do things a different way. For over 175 years we've focused on making things fairer for our members and their communities, and as a colleague we promise to take care of you. You’ll receive support for your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, as well as market‑leading policies to help you through life events from bereavement and pregnancy loss to fertility treatment and menopause.

What you’ll do
  • Friendly and thoughtful service — provide friendly, welcoming, easy, helpful and thoughtful service every day, often in the in-store bakery, taking ownership for managing the store and handling challenging situations
  • Develop your team’s capabilities through coaching and training, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone’s voice is valued and respected
  • Ensure the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to create a great shopping experience
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they’re not working and delivering a variety of HR processes
  • Lead the way when introducing new products and services in your store, working with your team to implement change and encourage open and honest feedback
  • Build relationships and get involved in the local community, supporting the Store Manager with the local Co‑op community plan

The ability to strike a balance between leading and supporting your team and hands‑on store floor work.

  • Great people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts
Pay, hours and contract

Pay: £13.99 per hour

Contract: 20 hours per week + regular overtime, permanent, part time

Working pattern: varied shifts including early mornings (store opening), afternoons, late evenings (store closing) and weekends, to be discussed at interview. This role involves working in our in-store bakery

Full, paid training provided

You can apply for this role using your mobile device (no CV needed)
