The service works with both adults and children experiencing a range of complex physical difficulties that prevent them being able to control multiple aspects of their home environment, e.g. neurological conditions such as motor neuron disease, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, etc., complex arthritis and spinal injuries. These clients may have associated cognitive, behavioural or learning difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the clinical team in delivering electronic assistive technology (EAT) solutions to clients with complex physical difficulties and/or learning difficulties, life‑limiting diagnoses and challenging behaviours. Responsibilities include:

  • Configuring, completing, and installing electronic assistive technology solutions.
  • Repairing existing equipment and mounting devices to wheelchairs.
  • Performing annual maintenance and satisfactory electrical PAT testing.
  • Conducting client reviews with carers and tailoring bespoke solutions following clinical assessment.
  • Delivering and collecting equipment as required and supporting the vehicle‑based service across the North East and North Cumbria area.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on developing new devices and solutions.
  • Providing technical expertise and support to the wider team.

The post holder will report to a senior technician/technologist, manage their own workload, and attend to travel requirements necessary to serve the region.
