A unique opportunity to broaden your skills

Taverham Veterinary Hospital is offering a unique 12-month maternity cover role for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with an interest in both clinical nursing and client liaison. This hybrid position combines hands-on RVN duties with surgical booking coordination, giving you the chance to develop your organisational and communication skills alongside your nursing expertise.

The Role

This varied position will see you splitting your time between delivering exceptional nursing care and supporting our surgical team with the smooth running of procedure bookings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a high standard of inpatient and surgical nursing care
  • Supporting our vets in theatre and prep
  • Running nurse clinics and advising clients on preventative health care
  • Liaising with clients on surgical bookings, pre- and post-operative care, and treatment plans
  • Assisting with the coordination of clinical and surgical procedures

Full training will be provided, including our in-house computer systems, so you can feel confident in both aspects of the role.

About Us

Taverham Veterinary Hospital is a busy, RCVS-accredited 24-hour hospital with outstanding facilities, including a brand-new CT scanner, dental suite, ISFM gold-standard cat kennels, canine kennels, isolation facilities, and four operating theatres. Our caseload is varied, with regular ultrasonography, cardiology and orthopaedic surgeries.

Alongside the main hospital, we have a one-vet branch practice, a luxury veterinary-led cattery, and an excellent hydrotherapy and physiotherapy service. Our location is ideal, just 15 minutes from historic Norwich and under an hour from some of the UK's best beaches.

Meet the Team

We are proud of our large, dedicated team: 34 Veterinary Surgeons, 41 RVNs, 5 Student Veterinary Nurses, 9 Animal Nursing Assistants, and over 30 support staff. Many of our vets and nurses hold certificates in a variety of disciplines, and teamwork is at the heart of what we do.

We are also a team that gives back. We run the Norwich division of StreetVet, a charity providing veterinary care for the pets of people experiencing homelessness, with many of our team volunteering. We also support Dogs Trust and regularly welcome their dogs for hydrotherapy sessions. Fundraising is a big part of our culture - our recent "quiz and chips" night raised over £2,000 for charity.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a qualified RVN who enjoys variety in their role, is highly organised, and has excellent communication skills. You should be equally comfortable providing hands-on clinical care and liaising with clients to ensure the smooth coordination of procedures.
