Job description

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our wonderful team at our friendly small animal practice in Redcar, North Yorkshire.

Why White Cross?

At White Cross Vets we pride ourselves on being a practice that genuinely looks after its people. We are proud to be SPVS Wellbeing Award Winners (2017 & 2018) and a Sunday Times Top 100 Company to Work For for six consecutive years. Our culture is supportive, positive and built around helping our team thrive, both professionally and personally.

To support wellbeing, we also run a monthly rota’d wellbeing session, giving every team member protected time to step outside for a walk or take part in in-clinic activities such as yoga or games - whatever helps you reset and recharge.

About the Redcar Team

You’ll be joining a growing, engaged and friendly team with a fantastic and varied caseload. Our veterinary team consists of five wonderful vets, including highly experienced certificate holders with interests across surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and dentistry. They’re enthusiastic mentors who enjoy encouraging development at every level.

Our nursing team is made up of eight highly skilled and supportive RVNs working across full and part-time roles, along with two fantastic VCAs. We’re passionate about nurse progression and already have nurses who have achieved advanced qualifications in internal medicine and surgical nursing, as well as team members who confidently carry out Schedule 3 procedures daily. Our Clinical Lead Nurse supports high standards throughout the practice, and we hold regular clinical meetings for team learning, reflection and case discussions.

We’re well equipped too, with a full in-house laboratory, microscopy, ultrasonography (including a brand-new ultrasound machine), ECG, endoscopy availability and dental X-ray. We practice evidence-based medicine and are proud to hold ISFM Silver Cat Friendly Clinic and Dogs Trust Dog Friendly Clinic awards.

You’ll also be working alongside our Clinical Director, Louisa, who many know as ‘Louisa_the_Vet’ on social media, where she shares a glimpse into daily life at White Cross Redcar.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a fun, compassionate and professional RVN who shares our values of quality, integrity, responsibility and growth. You should be a strong communicator and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, delivering excellent clinical care and a fantastic experience for our clients and their pets. While experience is preferred due to our varied workload, we are very happy to support a new or recently qualified nurse with the right attitude and enthusiasm.

Working Hours

This is a flexible role with weekday hours between 08:30-19:00, along with participation in our 1:6 Saturday rota (8:30-12:30). There are no out-of-hours duties, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work-life balance.
