A public sector organization in the UK seeks a registered Forensic Psychologist to provide psychological services in prison settings. The role requires conducting assessments, offering clinical supervision, and delivering specialized training. Eligible candidates must have a professional background in Psychology, with a minimum of two years' post-registration experience, and strong English proficiency. Hybrid working arrangements are available, subject to business needs and normal probation conditions.
NWPS is a well‑established team that provides psychological services across two prison groups (Cumbria and Lancashire and Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire) and two probation regions (North West and Greater Manchester). Our regional approach gives access to a diverse range of work opportunities, including assessment and intervention with adult male prisoners, training, consultancy and research in reception, training and resettlement prisons. We also deliver specialist clinical input to three PIPEs and a Progression Regime and provide the OPD core offender management consultation service for public and privately managed prisons.
The MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business need allows. This flexible approach blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and/or from home (role must be based in the UK). The arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review, with the request for the nearest MoJ office location being decided at the time of offer.
We recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, following the Civil Service Commission’s recruitment principles. As a Disability Confident employer, the MoJ is committed to providing adjustments throughout the recruitment process and work place. Veterans are offered a guaranteed interview scheme under the “Making the Civil Service a Great Place to Work for Veterans” initiative.
