Job description
Overview

We are seeking a motivated registered children\'s nurse to work within our Paediatric Ward. We are an 8 bedded inpatient ward caring for patients from 0–16 years of age. Ward 1 cares for patients with medical, surgical and mental health needs and is a paediatric shared care unit for oncology patients from Birmingham Children\'s Hospital. In addition to inpatient beds, we run a surgical and medical day case service three times a week for a wide variety of patients from ENT surgery to allergy tests and regular infusions.

The post will involve a variety of shifts over a seven-day week including bank holidays, rotating between night and day shifts.

Ward 1 operates a Family Centred Care approach where parents/carers are actively encouraged to be involved in their baby/child\'s care with support and education from the nursing staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for paediatric patients (0–16 years) in the ward and contribute to the day case service.
  • Rotate shifts across days, nights and bank holidays as part of a seven-day roster.
  • Work within a Family Centred Care model, supporting parents and carers in the child\'s care with education and guidance.
  • Support and participate in the paediatric oncology shared care pathway where applicable.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and evaluate patient care, including admissions, discharges and transfers.
Qualifications and experience
  • Preferably hold RSCN or RN Child Branch qualification with relevant experience.
  • We will also consider applications from newly qualified nurses and nursing associates.
