Roles & Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the CAMHS Day Service team to provide intensive person‑centred interventions to young people who may be at risk of admission to a Tier 4 inpatient unit without increased support.
  • Participate in assessment, formulation, and intervention and liaise with other agencies.
  • Engage in regular team clinical supervision and obtain frequent individual supervision.
  • Conduct mental health assessments, plan and deliver community‑based interventions across settings such as the specialist day service, home, education, GP surgery and other primary care settings.
  • Undertake ongoing risk assessment of harm to self or others, risk of vulnerability, and complex health and social care assessment.
  • Monitor the effects of prescribed medication and report any side effects to the responsible medical officer in accordance with local Trust policy and the NMC administration of medications policy.
  • Guide young people and families through mental health assessment, plan, and community interventions employing an assertive outreach approach to help maintain emotional wellbeing.
  • Facilitate group work with service users and promote a wider understanding of mental health issues among families, referrers and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professional agencies and departments, providing advice, training and support to services in key partner agencies.
  • Support the development of specialist team protocols and propose changes to the working practice of the team, participating in organised service activities and case discussions to contribute to service development.
  • Participate in meetings and reviews to support children, young people and their families in planning to meet the needs of the service user.
Qualifications
  • Registered nursing, social work, or occupational therapy professional with relevant registration.
  • Experience in child and adolescent mental health services or comparable roles.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based interventions and routine outcome measures.
  • Understanding of trust protocols and medication administration.
  • Ability to work creatively and systematically within multidisciplinary teams.
