Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Hull is seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse for the Ophthalmology Department, focusing on pre-operative assessment. Registered Nurse

The Ophthalmology Department HRI has a vacancy for a dynamic and highly motivated Registered Nurse. The post is within the pre-operative assessment team. We are dedicated to providing a high standard of patient focused care using up-to-date technology in a well-equipped, purpose-built modern facility.

We actively support professional development and successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain specialist ophthalmic knowledge and skills to deliver excellent patient care.

Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to expand their scope of professional practice and participate in a variety of nurse-led clinics.

Job responsibilities
  • Demonstrate commitment to the delivery of high quality, patient‑focused care.
  • Work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team to promote service needs.
  • Participate in evidence‑based practice and work under own initiative.
  • Use excellent communication skills.
  • Show previous ophthalmic or pre-operative assessment experience, or a genuine interest with willingness to receive training.
  • Manage workload of other staff (if indicated).

Experience
  • Interest in ophthalmology
  • Previous experience in an ophthalmic setting
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
  • Mandatory training
  • Basic knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and physiology, ophthalmic conditions, their treatments and the equipment involved
  • Basic leadership skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic anatomy and physiology, ophthalmic conditions, their treatments and the equipment involved

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to manage the workload of other staff
Other Requirements
  • Good time keeper
  • Ability to work from both hospital sites as required
  • Ability to cover/change shifts at short notice
