Registered Head of Care - Children's Home for Children with Learning Disabilities

We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new 10 bed children's home in Wolverhampton, dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for children with learning disabilities. The home is part of an organisation who are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.

We are now seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Head of Care to join the dedicated team and lead the provision of high-quality care services.

As the Head of Care, you will play a crucial role in establishing and managing the day-to-day operations of the new 10 bed children's home.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of person-centred care to children with learning disabilities, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being. You will lead a team of dedicated care staff, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the children's home, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with families, professionals, and external agencies to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Provide strong leadership and management to a team of care staff, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise care staff, conducting regular performance reviews and providing ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and individual care plans.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and educational institutions, to ensure holistic care for the children.
  • Foster positive relationships with families, ensuring open and effective communication regarding the progress and well-being of each child.
  • Implement safeguarding procedures and promote a culture of safety within the children's home.
  • Stay updated with the latest research, best practices, and developments in the field of learning disabilities and incorporate them into the care provision.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 5 Diploma in children and young people services or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a residential care setting, preferably working with children with learning disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and regulations related to children's care services, including safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with children, families, and external stakeholders.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children with learning disabilities.
