Job Title: School Receptionist (Apprentice)

Location: Overstone Park School NN6 0DT.

Salary: £14,722 per annum.

Hours: Full-time, e.g. 37.5 hours per week, term‑time only.

Contract: Fixed‑term Apprenticeship.

Reports to: School Office Manager.

About The Role

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organised Receptionist Apprentice to join our team at a specialist SEN school committed to supporting children and young people with diverse learning needs.

This role is ideal for someone looking to start their career in administration or education, offering valuable hands‑on experience in a busy, supportive school environment while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Communication
  • Act as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and professionals, ensuring a warm, welcoming, and professional environment.
  • Answer and direct phone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and messages.
  • Maintain visitor logs and ensure compliance with safeguarding and security procedures.
Administration
  • Support the school office with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate pupil and attendance records in line with school policy.
  • Help prepare letters, reports, and communication to parents and external agencies.
  • Maintain and update noticeboards, school forms, and information displays.
Support For Staff And Students
  • Provide administrative support to teaching and pastoral teams as required.
  • Liaise with parents and carers regarding pupil absences, appointments, or updates.
  • Offer general assistance to pupils visiting the reception area with professionalism and care.
Health, Safety & Safeguarding
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure visitors and contractors are signed in and supervised appropriately.
  • Support emergency and first aid procedures under staff guidance.
Person Specification

Training & Development

You will receive full training and support to complete your Level 2 or Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, gaining practical experience in school administration alongside your studies.
