CMS are looking for an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join our Legal Services Unit in our Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen office. The Legal Services Unit is the centralised paralegal team at CMS. The successful candidate will be focused on supporting our thriving Real Estate team working for and with a variety of high-profile clients. About the role

This role will involve supporting both internal and external clients across a broad range of real estate transactions, including managing matters independently (with appropriate supervision) from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include:
Caseload Management: Managing a busy caseload of transactions, including liaising with the client to obtain instructions.
Drafting and Negotiation: Drafting and negotiating documents such as offers, leases, variations, dispositions, licences to occupy and other ancillary lease documentation.
Acquisitions/Disposals: Dealing with the acquisition and disposal of property.
Title Review: Reviewing and reporting on titles and handling ad hoc title queries from internal and external clients.
Completions: Managing completion and post-completion, registrations, forms, filing, and client signing/reporting requirements.
Communication: Maintaining regular communication with both internal and external clients, providing timely updates, responding promptly to queries, and ensuring matters progress efficiently and within agreed timeframes.
Project Support: Providing ad hoc support on real estate projects and transactions, including assistance with file opening procedures, preparing first drafts of retainer letters and ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations.
Project Management: Working with data rooms and online trackers.
Financial Administration: Managing the financial aspects of transactions including billing and cost tracking.

Organisational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and to prioritise conflicting deadlines.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with lawyers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Team Player: Ability to work well in a team whilst using your own initiative.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Familiarity with Word, Excel, and other relevant software.
Legal Tech: A hunger to learn new skills, including how to use new AI automation and other legal tech tools to support our evolving service delivery model. The successful candidate will be expected to actively engage with AI-enabled features/tools used by CMS to support our commitment to innovation and digital excellence.

Career Progression
Full training will be provided on our systems and processes, including on the use of AI and other legal tech tools to support client service delivery. These tools will continue to develop as new technologies emerge, so the successful candidate will need to be adaptable and open to learning as systems and processes evolve.

Innovation and Digital Transformation: A strong understanding of how emerging technologies - particularly AI - are transforming legal service delivery. The role supports CMS’s ongoing digital journey, where practical and accessible innovation is key to addressing legal, regulatory, and business challenges. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with evolving digital tools and contribute to embedding innovation into everyday practice.
