West Midlands Metro is the gateway to an exciting career in the heart of England's thriving West Midlands region. We are the driving force behind modern, sustainable urban transport, connecting communities and contributing to economic development. We are expanding our team to drive the next phase of our expansion into Dudley.

You will be taking charge of your discipline – Permanent Way – and guiding it through to successful delivery. Each role is a standalone, high-impact position for someone who will bring specialist knowledge to a complex, city-shaping infrastructure project. The Team Leader will support the safe, compliant and efficient transition of new infrastructure into Business As Usual operations.

Responsibilities
  • Shadow the existing MML Team Leader in your discipline during the initial 3-month induction phase to gain network-specific knowledge and expectations.
  • Act as the lead discipline representative for all new assets introduced as part of the network extension.
  • Carry out static infrastructure checks and testing to confirm asset suitability and readiness for operational use and driver training.
  • Verify that asset installation is complete and in accordance with as-built drawings and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate and support the familiarisation and training of operational and maintenance staff related to new equipment and environments.
  • Create or update maintenance schedules, procedures, and instructions aligned with manufacturer guidance and operational needs.
  • Contribute to the collation, review, and handover of Health & Safety File data with admin and Agility support teams.
  • Support the development or amendment of policies and procedures to manage new risks or configurations.
  • Engage in joint walkthroughs, snagging inspections, and review activities to sign off assets as ready for service.
  • Support the Infrastructure Manager, Asset Handover Coordinator, and Technical Officer in achieving a coordinated and timely transition of new infrastructure into MML ownership.
  • Ensure all new assets are correctly registered and configured in the Agility asset management system with appropriate hierarchy, tasking, and scheduling.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in Permanent Way Infrastructure.
  • A strong understanding of maintenance principles, asset inspection, and safety regulations within a light rail or rail infrastructure context.
  • Practical experience interpreting technical drawings and documentation.
  • Experience coordinating operational readiness activities, including static testing and staff familiarisation.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems (e.g., Agility or equivalent CMMS).
Desirable
  • Experience working on new infrastructure handovers, extensions, or commissioning.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety File requirements under CDM regulations.
  • Knowledge of West Midlands Metro infrastructure and operational practices.
