Job summary

A leading construction services company in the UK is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial delivery on a major public-sector social housing contract. This role entails overseeing cost control, procurement of subcontractors, and ensuring strong governance throughout the project lifecycle. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in quantity surveying within construction or maintenance, particularly in social housing, along with strong communication skills and IT literacy. Site-based work is preferred, but hybrid options are considered.

We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial delivery on a major public‑sector social housing contract. This role involves overseeing cost control, subcontractor procurement, and payment management across multiple live sites, ensuring strong commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial aspects of social housing works
  • Procure and appoint subcontractors
  • Administer payments, valuations, and final accounts
  • Forecast costs, manage budgets, and report financially
  • Handle variations, change control, and cost recovery
  • Ensure compliance with public‑sector requirements
  • Collaborate with site teams and clients to mitigate risk
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven Quantity Surveyor experience in construction or maintenance
  • Strong subcontractor procurement and payment management background
  • Exposure to social housing or public‑sector frameworks
  • Commercial acumen and ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Confident communicator and IT‑literate
Desirable
  • Experience in social housing refurbishment or maintenance
  • Familiarity with eVision or similar systems
  • Previous work on long‑term public‑sector frameworks
Working Pattern
