Overview
Our client, an established aerospace manufacturing firm in Sunbury-on-Thames, requires an experienced Quality Inspector to join their multi‑disciplined team.
Candidates would need to have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for BPSS security clearance.
Responsibilities
What the role of the Quality Inspector entails:
- Responsible for mechanical inspection of all Company Products, using a wide range of hand measuring tools and other inspection equipment including the CMM.
- Nominated DQR for product release of specific customer products.
- Certifying Staff for release of Civil Aerospace products.
- Responsible for verification of supplier FAIRs.
- Responsible for compiling FAIRs to AS9102 for internal products.
- Responsible for co‑ordinating mechanical & electrical calibration with internal customers.
- Responsible for calibration improvement plan.
- Responsible for developing GRIPs – Goods Inwards Inspection Plans and coordinating with the supplier.
- Produce accurate and detailed written NCRs on non‑conforming product for either internal or external distribution.
- Using Microsoft Office to establish and maintain the supporting records for the company's calibration system.
- Responsible for communicating with all internal departments either by written reports or verbally.
- Assist where relevant in customer site visits.
- Take responsibility for flagging quality control non‑conformances to reduce waste.
- Undertake the mechanical inspection of products in line with the specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Qualifications
- Proven experience of working in a Quality Mechanical Inspector role.
- Significant previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment using mechanical measuring equipment.
- Familiar with FAIR's to AS9102 is essential.
- Proven ability to use a wide range of hand measuring tools and other inspection equipment including a CNC CMM.
- Previous experience of producing accurate and detailed comprehensive written reports on non‑conforming product.
- Microsoft Office skills, including the creation of Excel spreadsheets.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good command of the English language and very articulate.
- Good presentation and communication skills at all levels, both externally and internally.
- Literate and numerical aptitude.
